Musings on Christmas Eve

Musing on Christmas Eve
by my friend, Gill Henwood.

If I were a shepherd,

Watching the pre-dawn
Midwinter skies,
Blazing fiery portent,

I too could hear the angels:
Hear their song, of glory

To God in the highest
Peace on earth
Goodwill to all…

And I’d be inspired too,
I would bring a lamb.

Yet,
What I can
I give him

Give my heart.

(On solstice sunrise glory, Luke 2.14, and Christina Rosetti)
