Autummn Leaves.
a poem inspired by the last leaf on the Witch Hazel tree.
I suspect such leaves rarely get noticed.
Autumn Leaves
Springing forth,
decorating branches,
sisters and brothers together,
dancing, whispering,
becoming family.
We played, teased by the wind,
warmed by the sun
clothed by Nature’s green,
a canopy of shade and
dappled sunlight.
We were beauty!
All too soon
we were a carpet of autumnal hues
kissing the ground,
each one a goodbye.
Destined to cling on,
alone now,
my mother tree held me,
then, opening her very being
sent me to enrich the earth.
Making way for new birth.
